While all the attention for the Melcher-Dallas Girls Track and Field Squad has been on J’Lyn Knutson’s dominance in the 1500 and 3000 meter races, there are other girls that can win a Bluegrass Conference title on Monday, and possibly clinch a spot at the state meet on Thursday at Central Decatur. DoraMae Bennett is listed in the top five in the 100…200 and long jump in the conference. Another Saint is Grace Overgaard…who has had a great year in the throws…holds the top seed in the shot put and second seed in the discus. Coach Amy Stuart tells KNIA Sports both Bennett and Overgaard can get gold medals in any of their events. The Saints will head to the conference meet on Monday before the state qualifier on Thursday at Central Decatur.
