With the warmer weather of spring and summer comes allergy season for those afflicted by the increase of pollen and other airborne stimulants in the air. Warren County Public Health Administrator Jodene DeVault tells KNIA News an allergy is an inappropriate immune response.
“Your body perceives what is affecting you as a danger, so it reacts to try to protect you. Even though it should be a normal response, you might sneeze, get watery eyes, develop a rash or skin peel, all of those are a way your body tries to help itself even though it might be terrible to have to go through.”
DeVault also said many people are ok with treating their allergies with over the counter medication, but if you wish to consider other options you should consult your doctor.
