After pitching the Central College softball team to an American Rivers Conference tournament title, senior Mariah Fritz was named the league’s female athlete and pitcher of the week.

Over the course of 14 innings on Saturday, Fritz yielded just 11 hits and two runs to help Central win the semi-final against University of Dubuque 8-2 and the final against Coe College 3-0. The complete game shutout for Fritz against the Kohawks was the second this season and sixth of her career. Sadie Baugher was honored as the league’s softball position player of the week while Brock Lewis was the conference’s men’s field event performer of the week in track and field. Baugher also came up big in the final, driving in all three runs for the Dutch. The Dutch softball team hosts a four-team regional in the NCAA Division III Championships this weekend, starting with a first round game against Lake Forest College (Ill.) on Friday, which can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS.
