The Indianola City Council approved an agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation at their most recent meeting Monday evening, partnering to receive funds from Iowa’s Clean Air Attainment Program (ICAAP). City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News a problem on Highway 65/69 is vehicles are idling too long at stoplights, holding up traffic and causing more damage to the environment.
“Motorists once the project is done will notice a significant difference. The way it is now, the lights don’t talk to each other, each intersection is kind of in its own silo. After this project, the entire corridor will be able to talk to one another and synchronize to keep traffic moving as traffic patterns change.”
