It was a tough night for the Tulip City soccer teams, with all three in action falling in their conference games.

The No. 3 in 2A Lady Dutch fell on the road to No. 11 DCG in a penalty kick shootout, losing 2-1 after 100 minutes of tied soccer. Despite leading for the 50 minutes after a Grace Held goal near the 12 minute mark in the first half, the Fillies tied the game late in regulation. After a stalemate over two overtimes, Pella took a 3-2 lead in the shootout, only for the Fillies to hit 3 shots to just one more for the girls in green. The Lady Dutch fall to 8-2 and travel to the Cownie Complex to take on Des Moines Roosevelt Thursday.

Pella boys hosted Dallas Center-Grimes for Senior night and the last home game of the 2019 season, falling 2-nil. Pella fell behind 0-2 in the first half after two quality finishes from DCG beat the Dutch defenders and Goalkeeper Sam Warner, according to Head Coach Mark Solomon. The 2nd half saw more opportunities for Pella, but they couldn’t turn them into goals. Pella is on the road for their final 3 regular season games, beginning with Knoxville this Friday.

Pella Christian fell 2-0 at home to Newton in the second consecutive night of competition. The Eagles fall to 4-9 and wrap up the regular season at home Thursday night against Carlisle.
