The City of Indianola is moving forward with an assessment of city buildings, determining the best format of operation efficiency for the building. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News the council recently approved the next step in the assessment, after completing a space and staffing study.

“This next phase will go and look at and take care of immediate needs, make sure the signage in City Hall is clear and concise. We have multiple entrances so we need to make sure our customers know where they need to go. We’ll be doing an environmental study, check for asbestos, make sure we know what that cost would be to remediate. And then we’ll look at fine tuning the space.”

Waller also said the lack of space is specifically a problem for first responders, as not everything can be stored in one building; so in the event of an emergency they might have to go to a different location before responding.
