Indianola Municipal Utilities will be performing hydrant flushing around the city starting Monday and running through May 24th. IMU General Manager Tom Gaffigan tells KNIA News there are about 750 hydrants in the area that need to be flushed out, and its important to do so every year.

“Whenever we do this, residents can normally tell because there is a lot of water on the streets. We do this not only for our systems, but for the fire department too making sure they can have access. Residents do need to be careful of washing white clothes in that timeframe, because some of the dirt and stuff might not get completely flushed out.”

Gaffigan also said that if residents spot any discoloration in their water during the flushing, to not hesitate to call IMU to find a solution.
