Colorado Senator and Democratic Candidate for President Michael Bennet stopped in Pella to meet with voters Saturday. Bennet says he’s running for president because of the challenges the country faces in the next election, and the solutions he aims to provide to voters.
“This country faces an incredible challenge, which is how to restore economic growth that actually drives everybody’s income up,” he says. “For the last forty years, the only people’s income that has gone up are the people at the top, 90 percent of Americans haven’t seen a benefit from that, and as a result, can’t afford housing, healthcare, higher education, or early childhood education.”
“There’s some people who look at that and say, ‘we’ll never have that economy again,’ because of the Chinese or because of technology. I think the American people have a right to look at this and say Washington hasn’t focused on that set of issues.”
Bennet spoke at The Brew to a crowd of approximately 20 people.
