The Indianola Fire Department, along with the Indianola Noon Lions Club, treated residents to pancakes and sausages Saturday morning, saying thank you to those in Indianola for all the support they give. Firefighter Bob Soukup tells KNIA News the importance of holding events like this serves the department in many ways.

“We had an incredible turnout. We really appreciate the community coming out and supporting us. It’s a great opportunity to get to show the community the fire department. In the end, this is their department. So showing them the equipment, we had one of the engines out, having kids go through it, showing them how we do things, because ultimately this belongs to the community this belongs to the people that support us.”

Soukup also said the breakfast couldn’t be done without the help of the Noon Lions Club.

“We do this in conjunction with the Indianola Noon Lions, and those folks are very supportive of the fire department. They do a lot of the legwork for us, they come up behind the tables to serve, picking things up, throwing away trash, we are very appreciate of the support and the effort they put in to help us.”

The breakfast serves as one of the major fundraiser events for the department, with another coming in the fall.
