Charges have been upgraded in a case involving a Knoxville couple being investigated for child endangerment…as they now face counts of kidnapping.
49-year-old Rocky Wooldridge and 43-year-old Jennifer Wooldridge are now each charged with a felony count of kidnapping; Jennifer Wooldridge is now also charged with multiple acts of child endangerment, and neglect of a dependent person.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office arrested Rocky Wooldridge in March following an investigation concerning a child in his care; investigators say the youth had not been allowed to leave the house for months, had received multiple injuries, and was staying in a room covered in plastic sheeting…with Pull-Ups and wet underwear present.
The revised charges allege the act of confining the youth with the intent of committing serious injury, or intentionally subjecting him to torture, constitutes kidnapping.
Rocky Wooldridge had previously been charged with child endangerment, child endangerment with serious injury and possession of a firearm as a felon; the guns were reported to have been found during a search of his residence, in an area where the child could have reached them.
