An Oskaloosa man faces felony charges for allegedly stealing a truck from a garage and taking it across state lines. Travis Nelson, 20, is charged with 3rd degree burglary and 2nd degree theft, both class D felonies. According to court records, a homeowner in rural Pella reported to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office that a vehicle parked in a garage on the evening of April 24th was gone by the morning of April 25th. While dispatch and deputies were working to receive the stolen vehicle report, the Adair County Sheriff’s Office in Missouri contacted Marion County about a truck they found in which two men were loading tools that had fallen out of the bed. Marion County confirmed the matching description of the vehicle, reporting it was stolen, and officers in Missouri made the arrest as Nelson and another individual were collecting the tools from off of the road.
