The Indianola and Pleasantville boys and girls track and field squads competed on day one of the Iowa High School State Track and Field competition Thursday, seeing several top finishes. For the Indians girls, Alivia Bauer had the best finish on the day with a 5th place finish in the discus while teammate Kassie Baker placed 15th. Bailey Blake placed 3rd in her heat in the 400m and 11th overall, and Lauren Blake was 14th in the high jump.

For the boys, Matt McKnight had the best finish on the day with a 6th place finish in the high jump, while teammate Max Cleveland placed 19th. Dayton Mays finished in 15th in the discus for the boys, with Eric Baldus earning a 20th place finish in the 3200m, and the shuttle hurdle team placed 3rd in their heat but 11th overall.

The final events of the evening, including the Indianola girls shuttle hurdle relay event, was delayed due to weather.
