It’s becoming an early season trend for the Pella High baseball team.  The offense was mostly non-existent, managing just one hit in a 9-0 loss to North Polk Thursday night.

The Little Dutch had just three baserunners, with Gabe Thomas delivering the only hit of the game as Pella falls to 0-3.  In those games, they’ve struck out 30 times while collecting only seven hits – all singles.

Coach Jesse Jablonski says that in order to bust out of this slump, his guys need to swing the bat earlier in the count.

“We’re taking too many fastballs for strikes and we’re not being aggressive.  That’s a mindset and a mentality that we need to go up to the plate with. That’s something we’re going to have to work on as the new week starts, and hopefully we can get practice in on Friday and start working on some of those things.”

Pella has four days off before returning to action on Tuesday at PCM.
