A five run fifth was enough for the Twin Cedars Softball Squad to defeat their arch rivals Melcher-Dallas last night 6-2. The Saints jumped out on top 2-0 as Haley Godfrey singled in DoraMae Bennett, the Saints would pick up another run following the Twin Cedars error. The Sabers broke through in the fourth with an Ali Mockenhaupt hit that scored Riley Dunkin. The fifth inning was where Twin Cedars broke it open taking advantage of Melcher-Dallas errors and alert base running. Coach Zach Dunkin told KRLS Sports at first, his team was not putting the ball in play, and was glad they finally make contact as the game wore on. Grace Bailey got the win going the distance, scattering five hits, striking out four and walking one. Melcher-Dallas’s Emilie Krpan took the loss striking out six and walking two. On the baseball diamond, the Saints dropped a 10-0 decision to the Sabers.
