A Knoxville fitness center is again taking time on Memorial Day to pay tribute to those who have given their lives in service, be it on the battlefield or at home.

KNX Fitness hosts its fifth annual Workout 4 Heroes on Monday morning; participants will arrive starting at 8 o’clock, hold ceremonies at 8:30 a.m. and go through a full workout in the morning as a way of paying tribute to those who have served

Chris Gordon from KNX tells KNIA/KRLS News this is an opportunity for veterans, current service members and the public to come together and remember the effort those who sacrificed for their country have put in.

“(We have) a couple of veterans, we’ve got some that are active military still in the Guard; not to mention those that are also in the fire services, law enforcement…Memorial Day goes out to all those, even beyond those that have lost their lives in the service. I guess it’s a great way for us to show how much we care,” Cooper says.

KNX hosts a similar event in the fall, as a fundraiser for veterans who have suffered traumatic injuries and work out to help them with their physical or mental rehabilitation.
