One Marion County team is heading to the state soccer tournament in Class 2A — it’s a matter of if it will be the defending champions from Pella or red-hot Knoxville. The substate final is at high noon today at Pella High School between the Dutch and Panthers. Knoxville has won five games in a row, dating back to a 1-0 win over Pella at Ken Locke Stadium on May 10th, and upset No. 5 Grinnell 3-0 to earn a spot in the finals. Pella defeated Oskaloosa 2-0 Wednesday night after the Panthers victory. Pella has been to the state tournament five times (2000, 2002 (2nd), 2012, 2013 (4th), and 2018 (1st)), winning the 2018 Class 2A championship. Knoxville has made the trip once, in 2010.
