One Pella singles tennis player is on the semifinals while the other will battle for position in the top eight in the Class 1A singles and doubles tournament. On day one, Jack Edwards has dominated his corner of the bracket, defeating Nile Petersen of Atlantic 6-0, 6-4 and No. 4 seed Zach Wingert of LeMars 6-1, 6-0. Edwards will take on Cameron Luhring of Aplington-Parkersburg, the No. 1 overall seed, this morning at 10 a.m. After winning his first match in short order over Josh Pratt of LeMars, Jordan Roozeboom battled cramping leg muscles in his 6-2, 7-5 loss in the quarterfinals to Charlie Fair of Wahlert. Roozeboom battled back in the consolation round, knocking off Ben Craven of Boone 6-3, 6-3, and will take on Reed Miller of St. Albert in the consolation semifinals at 9:30. Roozeboom has earned at least a top eight finish, and could finish as high as fifth overall.
