The Indianola High School Softball Team held their annual Strike Out Cancer event against Southeast Polk Friday evening, raising money for charity. The team wore special pink uniforms for the event, and a raffle was held offering items donated by parents, students, and local businesses. Head Coach Stacy Evans tells KNIA News participating in the game means much more than just athletics.

“I think it’s great to bring awareness to our girls that life is much bigger than just the game you play out on the field. Recognizing those that we pass by every day in the hallways of the school, everyone is battling something. People are battling something much bigger than us, and I think it’s great to raise funds for cancer research through this.”

The event raised near $2,000 to be donated to charity.
