The Knoxville Public Library is bringing the vastness of the universe indoors, with help from a museum in Waterloo.
The Grout Museum of History and Science is bringing its Star Lab to the library for a presentation to kids on Thursday, June 13th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Holly Shelford from the Knoxville Public Library tells KNIA/KRLS News the Star Lab is erected indoors, and allows children to lie back and watch the presentation unfold over their heads.
“It’s going to be kind of like an inflatable tent where the kids are going to be able to go inside and see different types of constellations and hear a small program,” Shelford says.
“And so when you come to the library ahead of time, you’ll need to register for that. We’ll have room for everybody to get in, but there will be certain times that you’ll be able to go into the Star Lab.”
Participants who register in advance will be assigned to one of four groups; each group will enter one at a time for the 30 minute presentation.
Everyone taking part should arrive ten minutes ahead of time.
