The Simpson College Department of Music is hosting a Jazz Camp in June, one of the largest in the state that brings in instructors from across the nation. With the upcoming Jazz Camp, the faculty will be hosting free concerts for the camp-goers and Indianola residents, showcasing the talent brought in. Linda Benoit with Simpson College tells KNIA News the concerts will showcase different parts of jazz, which will be fun for the audience and educational for the students.

“The faculty each night play at least one piece that the students are learning about in their music theory or jazz combos sessions is playing, so the students get to hear the professional play the piece that they themselves are playing, and gives them some improvisation ideas and they just really can then get a sense of the style.”

The free concerts will be held on June 9th, 10th, 11th, and 13th at 7pm in the Great Hall at Simpson College, and are free to the public.
