For The Well, the past few months have been filled with hard work and anticipation as they prepared for the opening of their new center in Knoxville; and a ribbon cutting with the Knoxville Chamber on Wednesday afternoon marked their entry into the community.
The thrift store and ministry center have been in operation for a couple of weeks, but Executive Director Jayson Henry says it’s already drawing business from the people The Well wants to serve.
He tells KNIA/KRLS News there is still much more to be done, as they seek to build a corps of volunteers to help out in the Thrift Store and plan more programs to offer through the Ministry Center.
“The team here has done a wonderful job in getting things going, getting it to where it’s at today; there’s still more things we want to do from a store standpoint. On the ministry side, we have started seeing folks that need services; we started that a couple of weeks ago, that’s going extremely well. We want to continue to grow the number of folks that we’re serving in the community,” Henry says.
With nearly all of the interior work done, The Well is turning its attention to the outside of its location at the former Events Center; the outside will be painted, the parking lot will get restriped and landscaping work will be done to improve its overall look.
