The Neal Smith Wildlife Refuge in Prairie City is hosting activities for all area residents to enjoy the outdoors this weekend. They are hosting the Second Saturday Stewardship activity this Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Those who want to volunteer at the refuge can do so by planting outside or transplanting indoors. On Sunday, a naturalist is hosting a bird watching skill event, in which those at all skill levels of bird watching are encouraged to bring binoculars to study the birds native to the prairie in south central Iowa. The event begins at 8 a.m. Sunday at the refuge just outside of Prairie City.
