A three hit gem by Ashlyn Finarty propelled the Knoxville Softball Squad 3-0 over Davis County Friday night as heard on 95.3 KNIA. The two teams played to a scoreless stalemate for the first two innings with the Mustangs getting three runners in scoring position but the Panthers were able to stave off a score. Knoxville finally dented the scoreboard in the third when Emma Dunkin ripped a two RBI double to make it 2-0. Knoxville notched another run on the board in the fourth when nine hitter Charlie Vermeer scored Anna Sanderson with an RBI single. Finarty did the rest sitting down Davis County in order in the third, fifth, sixth, and seventh innings. She struck out five and walked just two batters. Coach Coy Hupfeld told KRLS Sports after Finarty allowed the bases to load up in the first inning she settled in and pitched well. The Panthers move to 6-5 on the season and 4-2 in the South Central Conference. Knoxville is off this weekend and will return to action on Monday at Southeast Warren.
