Pella Historical Society is bringing back a program aimed to teach students about what makes Pella unique and how it became a “touch of Holland.” Dutch Day Camp will be held at Pella Historical July 22-26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. Any student entering fifth or sixth grade this fall is eligible. Participants will “travel” to Holland and back in time to learn about Pella’s heritage, which includes a tour of the Miniature Village and the Vermeer Windmill, details about how to speak and sing in Dutch, and time to make Dutch crafts and play Dutch games. Information about Pella’s history and the founder, Dominie Scholte, will also be discussed. Lisa Zylstra, James Uitermarkt, and Dr. Ronald Rietveld lead the annual program. Registration costs $80 per student, with lunch included, and registration can be completed by stopping by the Pella Historical Society office in the Vermeer Windmill or by phone. Enrollment is limited to 24 students.
