Construction has begun on the all-inclusive playground at Pickard Park Saturday, after funds and equipment were secured by the Indianola Kiwanis Club, Rotary Club of Indianola, and the City of Indianola Parks and Recreation Department. Director of Indianola Parks and Rec Doug Bylund tells KNIA News the work from the community partners on this project and other projects should not be understated, and their hard work made this possible.

“Obviously the financial part of raising money, not just Kiwanis and Rotary but they went out and got a lot of donations from individuals and businesses and other organizations to help, so we couldn’t do this without that funding. But I think it’s just as important for groups to understand how important recreation and quality of life is to our community, and this is a great example of that.”
