A former team captain and decorated alumni, Kayla Sunvold is joining the Central College women’s soccer coaching staff as an assistant. Sunvold, who graduated from Central in December 2016, returns to a program in which she earned four varsity letters and a pair of all-conference honors. The Runnells, Iowa native played in 76 games for the Dutch in her career, the second most in program history. In 2016, she set the school record for assists in a season with 10. She was a second team all-conference performer in 2015 and 2016 as well as an honorable mention in 2014. In 2016, she was named NSCAA Scholar All-North Region and served as a team captain. She was also academic all-conference three times. Sunvold joins the staff after spending three seasons with the Southeast Polk high school program. She was an assistant with the varsity team and led the junior varsity team. During her career at Central, she spent two seasons as an assistant for the Pella Christian high school team. In addition to Kobylinski and Sunvold, goalkeepers coach Russ Goodman is back for a 14th year on the Dutch sideline.
