indianola-3

The Indianola softball team won a pitchers duel against Little Hawkeye Conference rival Pella Thursday evening 5-1, in a game heard live on 94.3 KNIA.

The Indians struck first in the 2nd inning with RBI hits from Sammie Becker and Kassie Baker to take a 2-0 lead, but both teams bats would stay quiet until the later innings. Pella pushed across a run in the 5th off of an Elly Cairney RBI single to cut the deficit to 2-1, but a big top of the 7th inning pushed the game towards Indianola. After back-to-back strikeouts to start the inning, Alley May, Selia Becker, and Gracey May all reached base, and Diamond Mosley hit a bases-clearing double to put the game out of reach 5-1.

Kate Kralik and Brooke Tucker shared pitching duties on the evening, giving up just 3 hits and the one run, while Maddie Parks took the tough luck loss. Mosley and Tucker each had a pair of hits for the Indians, while Cairney drove in the only Lady Dutch run.

Indianola has now won 7 in a row and will compete in a tournament on their home field tomorrow, while Pella will host a doubleheader with Norwalk on Monday.
