Knoxville City Council Member Cal Stephens has resigned from the council effective immediately according to Knoxville City Manager Aaron Adams. Stephens who was elected in November of 2015 and took office in January of 2016 was up for re-election in November. Instead, pending acceptance of Stephen’s resignation at Monday’s city council meeting the council will now look to fill the vacancy earlier than expected. Stephens tells KNIA/KRLS News he does not wish to give a comment at this time regarding his resignation. City Manager Aaron Adams tells KNIA/KRLS News he is grateful for councilman Stephens and his service to the community.
