The planning process for the Warren County Relay for Life continues for this fall, with a different venue as it will be held at the Indianola Sports Complex near the Indianola Middle School. Organizer Tami Fairbanks tells KNIA News she hopes the event expands this year which led to the venue change, and it is so important to participate in an event that can put a positive note on a life changing event such as a cancer diagnosis.

“Cancer can make you feel helpless, there is just nothing to be done about it and it is such a terrible disease. If you have a good prognosis, great. If you don’t have a good prognosis, you can feel as if you are fighting for no good reason. To combat that helpless feeling when you hear the word cancer, it gives me something active that I can do that shows my support for those who are fighting. That is why I relay.”

The Warren County Relay for Life won’t take place until October 5th, but organizers are searching for volunteers and donations. For more information, click the links below and tune in to today’s Let’s Talk Indianola.
