The Pella City Council will address several topics at Policy and Planning following their regular meeting Tuesday. Council will review the potential extension and expansion of a building permit moratorium along Oskaloosa Street, a request by the Tulip Time Steering Committee for a community tulip field, and assessment of costs for community wide sidewalk repairs. The Oskaloosa Street extension is meant to give council more time to consider redevelopment plans along the gateway corridor. The Tulip Time Steering Committee is asking for permission to plant a field of tulips in commemoration of the 85th Tulip Time this coming spring, with potential expansion over the years. Two sites would be considered — the Pella Sports Park, or the site of the old power plant on Oskaloosa Street. The final item will have city council give direction to staff on potential assessment periods and interest rates for those unpaid for sidewalk repairs completed by the city in the northeast quadrant of the city. No formal action of these items will be taken until a later council meeting. This week’s regular session begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Public Safety Complex.
