indianola-3

The Indianola boys and girls of summer swept Little Hawkeye Conference rival Oskaloosa on their home fields Monday evening, with baseball winning a crucial game 3-0, and softball winning 6-2 in a game heard live on 94.3 KNIA.

A dominant pitching performance on the mound by Joey Bylund gave the Indians a massive advantage on the baseball diamond, as he went nearly the complete game shutout to earn the win. Indianola struck for two runs in the 4th inning off of a Grady Haynes RBI double to make it 2-0, with Indianola adding another insurance run in the 6th. Quinn Vesey came on in relief with two outs in the 7th to seal the victory.

The Indians softball squad had only one extra base hit all evening, but pushed across 10 singles. The Indians started in the third inning on an RBI single from Sammie Becker, followed by an RBI groundout by Kassie Baker, then a 2-RBI single from Bella Bingaman for a 4-0 lead. The Indians weren’t done, adding another in the 6th from an RBI single from Emily Chaplin, with another run in the 7th on a sac fly from Diamond Mosley.

The win puts the baseball team at 13-11, and they will travel to play Council Bluffs – Lincoln this evening, while the softball team has now won 14 in a row to put their record at 25-4 and will host Urbandale tonight.
