Tomorrow morning the Knoxville Police Department will hold their second annual Freedom 5k. The run will begin at the department at 8 am. Lieutenant Aaron Fuller with the department tells KNIA/KRLS News a flag raising will be held at 7:45 with local boy scouts as well as members of the American Legion and VFW. A Knoxville school band will play the National Anthem and the run will begin with a volley courtesy of the American Legion.
Lieutenant Fuller says if anyone wants to come support the runners but not take part themselves, Thrive Knoxville will be holding a pancake breakfast across the street at the Knoxville Fire Department at 8 am. Registration for the run is $25 prior to the day of the run and $30 the day of with kids under 10 running for free. This year’s proceeds will be used to establish a scholarship for any individual interested in a career in law enforcement.
