The 9th annual Red Rock Balloonfest returns this Friday through Sunday. Jill Vandevoort with the Pella Convention and Visitors Bureau says a record 38 pilots will converge on the Red Rock Area to launch balloons both in competition and for entertainment over the three day event. She says the goal is for the balloons to soar over North Overlook Beach during four scheduled launches. There will also be a wide range of entertainment held on the evenings of July 12th and 13th at North Overlook. Additionally, the Red Rock Balloonfest 5K/10K will be held that Saturday morning, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Red Rock Dam Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at the beach. Hear more about the Red Rock Balloonfest on today’s Let’s Talk Pella.
