The journeys of Iowa High School teams to the Rogers Complex in Fort Dodge and Principal Park in Des Moines start this week and next as softball and baseball teams compete in the playoffs. Pella Christian opens the postseason tonight at home against Panorama in the Class 2A regional opener at 7 p.m.. The Lady Dutch will travel to Winterset Thursday for the 4A softball opening round. Pella Christian’s baseball team is at home against Union this Saturday, and the Dutch baseball team start on Friday, July 19th in game one of a 3A district doubleheader against Solon in Oskaloosa. PCM awaits the winner of Pella Christian and Union next week.
In softball action, local class 1A and 2A teams Twin Cedars, Melcher-Dallas, and Pleasantville each earned a bye in regional action, but will find out their opponents this evening and begin play on Wednesday. Class 4A Knoxville will play their opening regional game on Thursday taking on Gilbert, while class 5A Indianola will have their first round opponent determined Thursday evening and beginning their postseason journey on Saturday. In Class 3A, PCM heads to Centerville on Wednesday.
Local class 1A and 2A baseball teams will also start postseason action on Saturday, as Melcher-Dallas will go on the road to Moravia, while Pleasantville will take on Colfax-Mingo at Madrid High School. Twin Cedars also heads to Moravia to take on Seymour. Class 3A and 4A teams Knoxville and Indianola won’t begin postseason play until July 19th.
