The postseason begins for the Lady Dutch softball team when they hit the road to perennial power Winterset to kickoff round one this evening. The host Huskies are among the best programs in state history, winning championships in 2017 and 2008 under head coach Steve Corkrean and also finished as runners up in 2015 — the last time the Pella girls were at the state tournament. Winterset stands at 18-14 and finished 6th in the loaded Raccoon Valley Conference, which features No. 1 Carlisle, No. 2 ADM, and No. 8 Ballard. The 13-18 Lady Dutch finished as the 8th place team in the stacked Little Hawkeye Conference, featuring No. 4 in 5A Indianola, No. 7 in 4A DCG, No. 13 Norwalk, and No. 14 Oskaloosa. Pregame coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. from Winterset, with first pitch at 7 p.m. on 92.1 KRLS, kniakrls.com, and the free KRLS mobile app.
