With warmer temperatures in the forecast this week people throughout Marion County will be finding different ways to beat the heat. The Marion County Public Health Department would like to remind residents to stay safe while cooling off in a pool or at Lake Red Rock.

Cory Frank with the Department tells KNIA/KRLS News with the increasing popularity of above ground inflatable and temporary pools people need to make sure their pools are treated properly to help prevent illness and the spread of disease. He says if pool water is sitting for more than 24 or 48 hours the water needs to be treated with the proper chemicals and if residents don’t know how to properly treat their pool they can call Marion County Public Health and they will be happy to help.

Frank says no matter the size of the pool or even while visiting the lake, parents need to be watching their children at all times. He says it only takes a split second for danger to occur so anyone swimming should know how to swim properly or have a life vest and an adult present.
