A heat wave settles into the entire state today, with oppressive temperatures expected through Saturday. The National Weather Service issued an Excessive Heat Warning during the next several days. Dog owners are reminded to take extra care with their pets, especially as it relates to outdoor activity, according to Dr. Tim Yoder with Tri County Veterinary Clinic. Humans should also get their rest and avoid strenuous activity outside for prolonged periods of time. Daytime highs will top out in the mid to upper 90s through Saturday, with heat index values as warm as 110 degrees possible in the afternoon and early evening hours. Temperatures will only drop to the upper 70s overnight with high dew points and humidity remaining. Stay tuned to KNIA/KRLS for the latest weather information.
