Solar panels have begun to be installed throughout Knoxville. The installation comes as part of the solar energy project agreement between the City of Knoxville, the Knoxville Community School District, and Red Lion Renewables. Tim Lankford with Atwood Electric who was installing the panels on West Elementary Tuesday, tells KNIA/KRLS News so far they have installed over 240 panels on West Elementary which will receive a total of 800 panels. Lankford says the Knoxville Wastewater Treatment facility will receive close to100 panels and the Knoxville Middle School will receive 1,120 panels on a table system. In total 15 facilities throughout Knoxville will receive solar panels with the installation and maintenance of the project being cost free to the city and school district.
