A rezoning ordinance was adopted for a new housing development by the Pella City Council this week. City Administrator Mike Nardini says a Planned Unit Development was approved for the Cobb Hill Development, located north of Highway G-28 near Fifield Road. The ordinance is the first significant step in allowing 93 single family houses and a large condominium to be built to bring additional workforce housing to the community. Nardini says there is also space allowed for potential commercial development as well. Several steps remain between now and groundbreaking, as a site plan and plat both have to be approved, as does potential tax increment financing incentives by the city, Pella School District, and Marion County Board of Supervisors. The goal is to complete more than 130 housing units priced between $180,000 and $250,000.
