Central’s football game against Wartburg on October 20th didn’t end the way the Dutch had hoped, but kicker Jon Alberts put his name in the record books with a memorable moment.

Just four plays after star quarterback Blaine Hawkins was taken off the field with a leg injury, Central faced a fourth-and-17 from the Wartburg 37.  Trevor Castle and Don DeWaard take it from there, as you heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

The kick was the longest in Division III last season, and broke Craig Wassenaar’s 1982 Central record by three yards.

Without Hawkins, Wartburg took control of the game and handed Central it’s first loss of the season, 47-20.  The Dutch finished 8-2.
