A portion of Warren County has been classified as abnormally dry, according to the latest update from the United States Drought Monitor. Abnormally dry conditions mean that short-term dryness will be slowing planting and the growth of crops or pastures. Widespread rainfall occurred in southwest Iowa, while rain coverage was more spotty elsewhere in the state, however no area in Iowa is classified in a moderate drought. The National Weather Service forecast for the area shows a chance of rain this weekend, before temperatures in the low-to-mid eighties for the rest of next week.
