Today we continue the countdown of the Top 10 sports stories for the 2018-2019 school year at Simpson College with number six. In head coach Brad Bjorkgren’s tenure as men’s basketball coach, the Storm have made the postseason tournament four times, and have fallen three times in the first round, with that breakthrough finally coming this year. The Storm beat Coe College in the last week of the regular season to earn the #4 seed, setting up a rematch with the Kohawks just four days later. The game was all knotted up at halftime at 39 apiece, Coe took a small one-point lead at the 18-minute mark of the second half before the Storm went on a 17-7 surge to gain a comfortable lead at 60-51 and maintained the lead to get the win. Conor Riordan finished with 21 points and Adam Reiter went for 20 points and 12 boards. Kyle Wagner chipped in 17 points, and John Barbee had 10. The Storm narrowly missed out on a tournament finals appearance, falling just short of an upset bid over #1 Nebraska Wesleyan in the semis.
