Monday afternoon Knoxville Hy-Vee Store Director Kelly Kayser and Knoxville School Resource Officer Kyle Keller presented a new bicycle, helmet and bike lock to  9-year-old Margarette Leekey of Knoxville. Hy-Vee, in partnership with Variety the Children’s Charity, a national charitable organization that improves the lives of children in need, announced recently that proceeds from its Petals for Pedals fundraising event would provide a bike to a local child in need. Leekey was chosen to receive the bike by her teachers and Officer Keller as someone who could benefit from the new bike. 

During Hy-Vee’s Petals for Pedals event which took place July 17th through the 30th, a portion of the proceeds from every dozen rose bouquets sold went toward purchasing a bike to benefit children who experience various life challenges, including those who are at-risk, critically ill or live with special needs.
