There is no more decorated female athlete in the history of Pella sports than Emily Holterhaus, and her milestone season comes in at No. 4 of our top ten countdown of the stories of the Dutch in 2018-19.
After three years of smashing school records and contributing to some of the great teams in the history of Pella, Holterhaus entered this fall as the clear leader of the programs she played for — including volleyball, basketball, and track. On September 25th, Holterhaus eclipsed 1500 kills and finished with 1788 in her career, which is the 6th most in Iowa since quikstats made volleyball stats in Iowa official.
Holterhaus broke several school records during the basketball season, for rebounds in a single game, as well as the all-time program rebounds leader at 838, and she crashed through the 1,000 career points mark in January.
In track, Holterhaus qualified for multiple events again this spring, including her leg in the 4X400 closing another sensational year for the Pella program at the state track and field meet.
