Tomorrow morning the 2019 McKay Group Nationals Parade will be held in downtown Knoxville beginning at 11 am. This year a few changes have been made to the parade including a later start time to allow for more race fans and sprint car drives to take part. Knoxville Chamber of Commerce Director Hannah Vander Veer tells KNIA/KRLS News this year parking will not be allowed downtown after 6 AM to allow for a better viewing experience of the parade. Vander Veer says driving will still be allowed downtown until 10 am when the roads will be blocked, She says everyone is more than welcome to bring their lawn chairs to set up a good viewing spot for the parade. Some of the featured guests as well as this year’s parade dignitaries will include Brad Sweet, the 2018 Knoxville Nationals winner, the 2019 A main front row; the 2019 Nationals Queen Sydney Nivens and her court; Doug Clark, retiring Knoxville Raceway flagman, The Gary and Bev Price Family, Race Family of the Year, Gavin and Maddox Jones as well as Junior Fan Club Members of the Year, Shawn Nilius a retiring military colonel and Knoxville native.
