On May 24th in Geneva, Ohio, Will Daniels became one of the most decorated athletes in Central College history, winning his third multi-event NCAA championship.

Daniels scored the second highest point total in Division III history in the decathlon, blowing away the competition for his third national title.

“That weekend at Nationals was a lot of fun.  Knowing what to expect, I was able to relax and have a little more fun, enjoying it with my teammates and coaches.  I got the job done that I was hoping to, and it was just a lot of fun competing there.”

Daniels also won the heptathlon at the NCAA indoor championships in Boston in March, his second straight title in that event.

Just a junior, Daniels graduated from Central early, and will attend graduate school starting this fall at Iowa, where he’ll complete his final year of eligibility as a Hawkeye.

Two other Central men also competed at NCAA track and field championships this spring.  Sophomore Drake Lewis joined Daniels as an All-American, finishing eighth in the outdoor high jump, while senior Kyle Pape was 13th in the indoor 800-meter run.
