Today we continue our top 10 countdown of the top moments of the 2018-19 school year with number one. Hopefully recency bias doesn’t come into play, but what type of play can beat hitting a walk-off hit in extra innings to send your team to the state tournament? The Indianola softball team was down 4-1 heading into the bottom of the 7th in the regional final against Southeast Polk, an RBI double from Brooke Tucker scored two runs to make it just a one-run game, and an RBI single from Sammie Becker would tie the score at four, forcing extra innings. With a runner on second and one out in the bottom of the ninth inning, Kassie Baker had the top moment of this year for Indianola High School as she hit a double down the right field line to score Kira Matthias to send the Indians to state. In her previous four at bats in the contest Baker had three strikeouts and a walk, but tells KNIA Sports it was her teammates that gave her the confidence to get the hit. The Indians ended the season with a win over Ottumwa in the 5th/6th place game in the state tournament.
