It seems like we hear so much these days of high school sports participation declining. A number of reasons are given from parents decide to not let their child participate, to the program is not successful. Melcher-Dallas has actually seen participation grow in several sports. Athletic Director Jim Crozier tells KNIA Sports that is one thing he is urging his coaches to do is get more kids to go out for sports. Crozier adds it starts with the coach and if they are making it fun for the kids. He says that is the number one thing he looks for in hiring a new coaches at any level of play is if someone can make it fun for the kids before worrying about the wins and loses.
