The Pella City Council approved the first reading of an ordinance to rezone land for Lely North America’s new headquarters at their meeting this week. City Administrator Mike Nardini says the 65 acres of land just southwest of the Highway 163 and 250th Place will be rezoned from agriculture to industrial, assuming the next two readings pass. He says about one-fourth of that land will be used for the new Lely Headquarters, with the rest identified as potential industrial development. This past December, Lely announced expansion of their robotic milking headquarters and production facility. Lely Vice President Chad Huyser said the decision came after carefully considering potential growth needs for the next ten years and reviewing several expansion options. Lely North America’s headquarters currently sits on the northeast corner of the Vermeer Mile.
