The Indianola Police Department and Indianola Community School District have announced that Officer Jay Hackett has been assigned as the new School Resource Officer, starting duties this fall. Hackett will have an office at Indianola High School, and will split time between the high school and Indianola Middle School, with other Indianola Police officers continuing to stop at the elementary buildings throughout each week. Hackett received training with an emphasis on juvenile drugs, mental health, juvenile violence and victimization, and human trafficking among other areas with the Iowa Association of School Resource Officers as well as the National Association of School Resource Officers.
